SI Killing :: One suspect in police net, JAC steps up stir

A suspect in the killing of Sub-Inspector Mayengbam Krishnadas has been reportedly arrested by police as even the joint action committee (JAC) formed to seek justice in the killing stepped up their protest against the Government's alleged inability to nab the real murderer.
Imphal West Police arrested one Khundrakpam Krishnachandra (49), who is suspected to be involved in the killing of SI Krishnadas on June 22 last.
The accused is a resident of Ningthoukhong Kha Leikai in Bishnupur district and a friend of Krihsnadas.
He was produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West which remanded him to 10 days' judicial custody on Wednesday.
Reports said the accused and Krishnadas had a drink together at a liquor vendor in Sangaiprou area on the night of June 21.After that the accused went missing.

The police said the accused is now under interrogation and his involvement in the killing of Krishnadas will be known in two-three days.
Krishnadas was with Churachandpur Police at the time of his murder, according to police.
Earlier, he was with Bishnupur police.
His body was found at Shadokpam Leirak with stab wounds on June 22 .
Meanwhile, police resorted to firing tear gas canisters to calm the protestors against the killing of SI Khrishnadas while they were attempting to burn down goods from the shops at Sangaiprou area in Imphal West district today.
In response to the call of the JAC, many people came out to block the roads at Lukram Leirak and Sadokpam Leirak since early morning.
The JAC later announced an indefinite bandh in Patsoi assembly constituency with effect from 4 am of June 26 .
On the other hand, Sangaiprou Kabui villagers carried out a sit-in protest at the local market shed today in protest against the killing of SI Khrishnadas.
Talking to media at the protest site, K Abung, the general secretary of Sangaiprou Kabui village, strongly condemned dumping of dead bodies in the area.
