Imphal, July 22 2013:
Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has elevated three north-eastern states of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in Category-A of its campaign for the coming Lok Sabha election scheduled to be held early next year.
Notably, Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi, who is known as the star campaigner of BJP, will also campaign in the State for the coming Lok Sabha polls.
According to a reliable source, the Parliamentary Board of BJP held a meeting on July 18 in New Delhi to chalk out strategies for the coming Lok Sabha Elections.
The BJP has full faith of returning to power at the Centre and keeps an eye on north-eastern states in the coming election.
The Parliamentary Board of BJP expects 10 Lok Sabha seats from the three north-eastern states of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, and thus, elevated these three states in Category-A of its election campaign.
The source further said the national leaders of BJP including Narendra Modi would strongly campaign in the State from October this year as per the resolution of the Parliamentary Board.
Even though BJP has no MLA or MP in the State, Manipur has been raised to Category-A in view of mass enrolment of new members including prominent leaders from other political parties, the source said.
It may be noted that BJP Manipur Pradesh is planning to field candidates in both Parliamentary seats of the State.
The Party has already approved Prof Gangmumei Kamei as the candidate for Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, but the candidate for Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency is still not clear.
The BJP has vowed to defeat both the sitting Congress MPs of Manipur and weaken the support of 42 MLAs of the Congress Party.
The Party is still in the alliance of non-Congress Parties of the State formed with the objective to overthrow the Congress Party, the source added.
