Imphal, June 21 2014 :
Agitating over the higher authority's failure to implement their long-pending demands, members of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University Students' Union Regional Campus, Manipur (IGNTUSU-RCM) ransacked and vandalized the Administrative Office and other buildings of the varsity here.
Demanding the varsity's authority to come out with a white paper on all the funds sanctioned by North Eastern Council (NEC) for the development of IGNTU-RCM and also to dismiss all the officials involved in the alleged misappropriation of the funds, the IGTUSU-RCM kicked-off the protest at the varsity campus from today.

The agitating students burned effigies of Prof TV Katimini and Prof Tripathy, Dean of Social Science, IGNTU, RCM during the protest.
They also ransacked and vandalized the varsity's buildings including the Administrative Block Office.
Representatives of IGNTUSU-RCM and Prof Tripathy had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to implement the union's demands, but the Professor has been showing total negligence towards fulfilling the long-pending demands, so the union has launched the agitation, union president Manglen Gangte told journalists at the protest site.
He pledged that the stir will not end until the demands are met by the authority at the earliest.
The series of demands raised by IGTUSU-RCM include a white paper on all the funds sanctioned by NEC for the varsity, stringent action against those officials involved in the misuse of the funds, completion of the under construction Regional Campus at Makhan village in Senapati district before the next academic session and providing study materials like Internet and proper library facilities to the students.
IGTUSU-RCM had earlier threatened to go on stir if the higher authority of the varsity failed to implement its demands by June 20 last.
"But still we're inviting Prof Katimini to end the stalemate and bring a clear-cut solution to the issue," Manglen said.
