Keirao A/C MLA Lourembam Rameshwar Meitei has alleged that creating artificial flood with vested political interest thereby causing immense hardshisp to the people is unfortunate and unethical.
He made the statement during a relief materials and aid distribution programme for flood affected people organised at Ireima Haraobung, Arapti Mayai Leikai, under the aegis of The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association, Taiwan and Rotary Club, Imphal, yesterday.
Speaking to media persons, MLA Rameshwar conveyed that it is highly suspected that the current flood at Arapti, Keirao, Kyamgei Muslim and Urup of Keirao A/C has been created by some individuals with vested interest.
The flood resulted from river bank breaches of Kongba river at four locations of Kyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai and one river bank breach of Imphal river at Kyamgei Muslim Oinam Loukon.
He claimed that he has received news that two of the four breaches at Kyamgei Muslim Awang Leikai was caused by some people and a police personnel is involved as well.
He further alleged that when he personally went to help the flood affected areas, he was prevented from going any further.
The MLA assured that he would ensure supply of rice saplings and fertilisers to the affected people.
He claimed that he is working to pay compensation to the affected people as well.
He continued that a 50 bedded hospital will be constructed and construction works on a Homeopathy Medical College beagn yesterday.
Pointing out that there is a plan to build a gallery at Arapti Kangjeibung, the MLA said and added that an extraction plant for AYUSH is also in the pipeline as well.
If all these projects succeed, Keirao A/C will rapidly become developed, the MLA added.
Yaiskul A/C MLA Th Satyabrata, Sekmai A/C MLA H Dingo and members of Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association and Rotary Club were also present at the event.
Rice, dal and other essential items were distributed to the people during the event.
