"Let us eradicate society's woes through sustainable social developments"

Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen today exhorted that sustainable social developments and welfare of the society are the essential tools to eradicate the challenges of poverty, unemployment, disability, destitution, ill health, illiteracy and many other social issues.
Drawing attention of the gathering at the 46th Installation Ceremony of Rotary Club of Imphal, she urged all to do something sustainable to wipe out such woes from the society.
The ceremony was held at Rotary Multi Service Centre, Mantripukhri.
Speaking as chief guest, Minister Nemcha hailed the Rotarian for their selfless and voluntary services towards improving the lives of poor and downtrodden people, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, which is in line with her vision to improve the lives of the needy masses.
Their services towards humanity are inspiration for many who aspires social upliftment, she added.
While acknowledging the humanitarian services of the club, Nemcha highlighted the importance of education and heath in building a welfare and developed society while informing that the club is also spearheading in the forefront for social welfare by extending assistance to hundreds of children from poor families who undergo expensive surgery in reputed hospitals outside the State and conducting health camps for the needy villagers, actively involving in literary projects, career guidance seminars and in successfully organising an adult literacy programme, amongst others.
She asserted that such initiatives will help the Government in combating high illiteracy rate as well as to build a healthy society.
As part of the occasion, Social Welfare Minister along with the dignitaries released the annual souvenir of the club MANIPADMA.
Awards, scholarships, in-house awards, wheelchair and hearing aids were also distributed.
New members as well as new office bearers of the club were also inducted.
Ellendra Thoudam, Dr Sudhiranjan Th, Dr N Muhindro, Manish Jain and members of the Rotary club were also part of this ceremony.
