13 year old assaulted by warden

Imphal, July 01 2018: A 13 year old boy was allegedly assaulted by the warden of OND Bright Students Home, Thoubal Athokpam Khunou, leading to a broken bone.

Narrating the incident to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the 13 year old student claimed that he was put in charge of monitoring the younger students of the residential school and on June 28, after having dinner, one of the junior students was found roaming around holding a knife.

He snatched the knife from the junior student and decided to monitor the junior as a senior.

However the next day, the teacher cum warden of the school told him that one of the junior students made a complaint against him (the student) alleging that he had threatened him (the junior) with a knife.

The victim student claimed that the warden called him out of his room and assaulted him on his legs with a hard object in the morning.

He also alleged that on the same day the school authority did not provide any lunch to him as penalty and added that he had to be helped by the other students for going to the washroom as well.

He was taken to the hospital the same day and after taking an X-ray, it was found that he had a broken bone in his leg.

He further alleged that he was threatened by the warden not to disclose the incident.

Next day with the help of one of the school's staff, he made a call to his mother about his injuries but did not reveal the truth about the incident.

Speaking to media persons, Kh Ravikumar, the victim's father claimed that they were not informed by the school staff regarding the incident but it was only after their son called and after inquiring the school authority that they learnt about the incident.

He further stated that the school authority claimed that his son had threatened one of the junior students using a knife but on checking the CCTV footage nothing out of the ordinary was found.

He also alleged that the wife of the school owner had charged them (the parents) half of the hospital fee, He appealed to the authority concerned to take appropriate actions against the school authority as well as the warden at the earliest.
