Women Farmers' Club set up

Thoubal, December 29 2017:
With a mission to promote sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural development through participative financial and non-financial interventions, innovations, technology and institutional development for securing prosperity, the regional office of the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Thoubal opened a Women Farmers' Club at Laiphrakpam Mayai Leikai, Thoubal district today.
A base level orientation programme was also held as a part of the inaugural ceremony.
Hasina Begum, Adyaksha Thoubal district, RK Yaiphaba Meitei, Assistant General Manager, NABARD, P Pakka Singh, Branch Manager, Manipur Rural Bank, Lilong branch and MS Khaidem, Additional Director, Manipur Agricultural department attended the event as important dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, MS Khaidem said that farmers should advocate new technologies, improved methods of harvesting to derive maximum outputs from the farms.
With the establishment of the club the farmers will be able to get loans with much ease, he said.
He appealed farmers to repay the loans taken in time for it will enhance co-operation with the banks and ensure prosperity.
RK Yaiphaba also urged people to repay loans taken in time and develop mutual friendly relation with banks to ensure a stable economy needed for their growth.
