Brilliant Koms, Tangkhuls honoured

Felicitation programmes of candidates belonging to the Kom and Tangkhul communities, who excelled in civil and services and competitive examinations were organised at different places today.
At Khoirentak Khuman Baptist Church, the locals as well as Kom community leaders felicitated Hmangte Ronglerthang (Jonathan) Kom, the first among the Kom community to crack the MPSC conducted combined civil services examination 2014 .
Jonathan's younger brother namely Hmangte Hranglenthang Kom, who works as Junior Court Assistant in the Supreme Court of India, was also honoured at the occasion, which among others was attended by ace boxer and London Olympics medallist MC Mary Kom.
Applauding the brothers for excelling in their respective choice of profession and bringing laurel to the community, Mary Kom, also the SP (sports) said inspite of being one of the smallest tribes in Manipur, success of the Hmangte brothers has yet again showcased that Kom people too could excel in diverse field.
Exhorting the brothers to contribute their mite in the development of Manipur in general and strive for uplifting spirit of the Kom youngsters in particular, Mary Kom also called upon the younger generation to try and emulate feats of the Hmangte brothers.
Invoking blessing of the almighty for the brothers by religious leaders, staging of cultural items and presentation of simple gifts to Jonathan and Hranglenthang were the other highlight of the felicitation programme.
On the otherhand, Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Imphal honoured Tangkhul candidates who successful scaled the Manipur Civil Services Combined Examination 2014 conducted by the MPSC at a felicitation programme organised today at the Chingmeirong complex of Adimjati Shiksha Ashram.
Graced by the presence of Deputy Commissioner (Tamenglong) WA Chiphang and Joint Secretary (Forest & IPR) Zuringla Kengoo as the chief guest and president respectively, the successful candidates namely Lh Ngathingshim (topper), Shanngam S (24th Rank), Rithing Hongchui (59) and Shimray Asaiwo Bellrose (85) were presented simple gifts.
