"People of Sadar Hills have the required potential to excel in various field of games and sports particularly in the field of soccer but they could not bring out their potential due to lack of infrastructures" Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman of ADC Sadar Hills, has observed.
Haokholal was speaking during a felicitation function hosted in honour of DSA Sadar Hills players who succeeded in wresting the runners up title in the inaugural Hill District Premier League 2014 held at Churachandpur April last.
Recalling the background of the Hills District Premier League, Haokholal Hangshing observed that the league is being organized to create and promote cordiality, understanding, love, oneness, peace and tranquillity among the hill people of the state.
While lauding the players, coach, manager and all involved in the achievement of DSA Sadar Hills in the inaugural HDPL 2014 , the Chairman said that every district level participation of Sadar Hills is to the existence of the Autonomous District Council, Sadar Hills.
The Chairman emphasized the necessity of collective development in every field and appealed to the DSA Sadar Hills to initiates better ideas, programmes and measures to produce better players in the field of games and sports regardless of the limited infrastructures available.
Hangshing also expressed hope that DSA Sadar Hills players would achieve the winner's title in the next edition of HDPL to be held at Tamenglong next year.
"Soccer/football is the most popular and widely played game in the world", pointed out Chongpu Kipgen, Chief Executive Officer, SHADC, Kangpokpi before adding that discipline is the most valuable and important tool to become a successful soccer player.
He continued that the basic need of soccer is physical structure since it is a rough and tough game and to be physically fit one needs to maintain discipline in every field.
Soccer players also need to be intelligence.
While urging the DSA Sadar Hills to adopt the ideology of "Catch them Young", the Chief Executive Officer pointed out that it will be wise to train and mould young players instead of the already mature ones for longer and lasting career in games and sports.
DSA Sadar Hills president Tongjahao Kipgen, who is also the Vice President of AMFA, expressed gratitude to the Chairman, EMs, MDCs, CEO and staffs of the ADC Sadar Hills for their continuous cooperation and support towards the DSA Sadar Hills.
Furthermore, the DSA Sadar Hills chief appealed to the ADC Sadar Hills to organize a big open trophy/tournament to soar up the spirit of footballers in the area.
Rev.Tongjam Haokip, Chairman Kanggui Town Churches Fellowship administered the blessing ceremony of the occasion, which was also attended by EMs, MDCs of ADC Sadar Hills various CSOs including Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Kanggui Town Committee members, KWWO and KYU members.
The felicitation was followed by a grand feast.
