Ukhrul, May 10 2014 :
In what seems to be a case of child trafficking, the Ukhrul police today intercepted two teenagers, including a girl, who tried to leave the State without valid reasons.
The teens were intercepted at Viewland around 6 am today from a Dimapur bound taxi (Tata Winger).
Later, they were brought to Ukhrul police station.
The teenagers were identified as Glenn and Gracy (names changed) both hailing from Ukhrul district.
The police immediately informed the CWC, Ukhrul.
As per the statement, the duo were on their way to Chennai though without any valid reason.
They had a telephone number of one lady at Dimapur.
She is supposed to assist them at Dimapur and help them reach Chennai through a Tangkhul lady, named Jolly.
Ironically, the parents of the kids said that they were going in search of jobs while the valid reason for the two teenagers trying to leave the district could not be ascertained.
Even as the two claimed that they were heading to Chennai for further studies, they have no supporting documents to substantiate their claims.
The girl had appeared the HSLC exam this year.
Report from the CWC said that the duo are residents of Ukhrul's Wino Bazaar.
Although it is not clear whether they did it out of ignorance or knowingly, the parents are understood to have approved their wards' departure to Chennai.
Jolly (not real name) stationed at Chennai and supposed to receive the two teens there was also involved in the trafficking case of 11 kids who were later rescued from Bangalore in August last year.
Two of Glenn's younger brothers were among the kids rescued from Bangalore last year.
Glenn and Gracy were later handed over to their parents with a condition.
Meanwhile, CWC Ukhrul expressed serious concern over the absence of rehabilitation facilities for rescued kids and staff limitation while dealing with the issue.
