Imphal, October 27 2014:
Most oil pumps in Manipur were shut today due to the 1000-hour Karbi Anglong district bandh in Assam called by Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State (JACAS) which began from 5 am today demanding creation of an autonomous state.
Oil pumps were compelled to shut down, as panic purchase of fuel was seen at some of the few oil pumps.

JACAS has called the bandh from 5 am today in protest against the delay in announcing the dates for next round of talks since the last one was held on November 6, 2013 on the demand for the creation of a separate autonomous state within Assam under Article 244 A of the Constitution.
Bandh affected normal life in Assam, with vehicles off the road and offices closed for the first day today.
