Judgment of disqualification case against MLA Joykishan kept in abeyance

Imphal, October 27 2014:
Final hearing of a disqualification case filed against Kh Joykishan, MLA Thangmeiband Constituency for working against the party by Th Shyamkumar, president of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress Committee (MPTCC) was conducted today at the office chamber of Th Lokeshore, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
However, the Speaker has kept judgment of the case in abeyance citing need for more assessment of details related with the case.
The hearing of the Case no 2 (Oinam Kabi v/s Joykishan) and Case no 3 (Waikhom Nganlentomba v/s Joykishan) began at 11 am at the chamber of the Speaker.
After lunch break, the hearing of the case was continued further with the Speaker in the chair of the tribunal.
As hearing of Case no 4 (Shyamkumar v/s Joykishan); Case no 6 (Shyamkumar v/s MLA Oinam Lukhoi); Case no 7 (Shyamkumar v/s MLA Konthoujam Sarat) and Case no 8 (Shyamkumar v/s MLA Oinam Bishorjit) could not be conducted today, the Speaker announced that hearings of the cases would begin at 10.30 am of October 28 at his office chamber.
It was also decided that hearing of a case filed against MLA Ibohalbi by Trinamool Congress member Kim Gangte seeking disqualification of the former for working against the party which was supposed to be conducted today would be done at a suitable date as the MLA is out of station.
The case seeks disqualification of MLA Ibohalbi under Tenth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
On the other hand, five MLAs of Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) but later joined Congress party who are all facing disqualification cases in the Speaker's tribunal also submitted their affidavits.
Notably, Adim Panmei, president of MSCP had filed a petition to the Speaker seeking disqualification of the five MLAs for merging with Congress leaving their original party.
The five MLAs are RK Imo, MLA Sagolband Constituency; Karam Thamarjit, MLA Keirao Constituency; Jamhenlung Panmei, MLA Tamenglong Constituency; Nemcha Kipgen, MLA Kangpokpi Constituency and Paonam Brojen, MLA Wangjing Tentha.
The Speaker also announced that hearing of the case seeking disqualification of the five MLAs will be conducted on November 5 at 10.30 am.
