Enraged people of Kakwa impose road block

Infuriated womenfolk of Kakwa Laiphrakpam Leikai today imposed a roadblock at Kakwa Keithel to protest the inaction of the authority concerned in booking the culprits involved in opening fire at Kakwa Saturday night resulting in the injury of two persons.
Womenfolk of the locality in large number gathered today around 2 pm at Kakwa Keithel and staged a road block.
The wildcat road block caused immense disturbance to passers-by.
The road block enforcers however exempted school vans and vehicles carrying patients.
A road block enforcer said that in the night of Saturday (Ningol Chakkouba day) Huidrom Shanti told the dice board game (lagao) rollers to wind up their games as it was late.

Despite obeying the request, one Laishram Laba of Kakwa Liwa Road manhandled him.
On learning the happening, local youth started beating up Laba.
The local meira paibi members managed to put the situation under control.
However, two persons received bullet injuries when three/four persons came to the spot and resorted to firing indiscriminately, she said.
The enraged mob in turn had beaten up one of the gunmen identified as Haridas.
Expressing disappointment over the alleged inaction of Singjamei police personnel even after the gunshots, the local woman said the roadblock was staged to protest the alleged callous attitude of the authority concerned.
Saying that licensed gun should not be used arbitrarily, they also demanded cancelling the license of the gun used in the incident.
