ADC polls on May 30
Maring, Maram, Anal & Simte dialects can now be studied up to Class VIII

The elections to the Autonomous District Councils (ADC) will be held on May 30. This was decided during a Cabinet Meeting chaired by the Chief Minister on Friday.
During the meeting, the Cabinet also decided to recognize four tribal languages - Maram, Anal, Maring and Simte - can now be studied by students up to Class VIII from respective communities.
After the meeting, State Government Spokesperson and Education, CAF&PD Minister Moirangthem Okendro said the ADC polls will be held on May 30 between 7 a.m.and 4.30 p.m.and the results will be declared on June 8 .
He informed that the Draft Electoral Roll will be published on March 30 and the revision of the same can be done till April 13 .
The Final Electoral Roll will be published on April 20 while ADC election will be notified on April 30 .

The minister further said the last date of filing nominations by candidates will be May 6 and scrutiny will be held the next day.
The last date for the withdrawal of nominations will on May 11 .
If there is any re-poll, the same will be held on June 4. The declaration of results will take place on June 8 and all poll related activities will be completed by June 15 .
t may be recalled that the decision to hold ADC election was taken at a meeting of the State Cabinet held on March 23.After this, the State Election Commission had prepared the tentative schedule for the ADC Election and sought the permission of the State Government.
Other decisions taken during the State Cabinet meeting include the granting of recognition to three tribal "dialects" - Maram, Anal, Maring and Simte which can be studied by students hailing from the same communities up to Class VIII .
There are 39 tribal "dialects" in the State out of which 13 had been granted recognition earlier.
The recognition of the tribal "dialects" had been considered after verifying that the dialects are spoken by not less than 10,000 persons from the respective tribes who speak the dialects.
There should also be the published works like books, magazines, newspapers etc.
It may be mentioned that the population of Maram is 45,255 with 35 villages while the population of Anal tribe is 21,242 with 21 villages.
The Maring tribe has 23,238 population with 23 villages and there were 11,065 belonging to the Simte tribe which has 12 villages.
