Governor, others greet people on Yaoshang

Governor, Gurbachan Jagat, Major General DS Hooda, GOC of Red Shield Division and Major General CA Krishnan, IGAR (South) have greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Yaoshang.
In his greeting to the people, the Governor expressed hope that peace and harmony will return to the state with the celebration of Yaoshang which is celebrated along with the Holi festival in other part of the country.
"I am sure that the festival will be celebrated in its true spirit," he said.
"An important change, has taken of late, that is, besides the traditional activities during Yaoshang, games and sports, dance and music competitions are extensively organized with enthusiasm in every village/locality, the Governor hopes that this will ultimately boost sportsmanship among Manipuri youths.
Extending a warm greeting to the people on the Yaoshang festival, Maj Gen DS Hooda, GOC Red Shield Division, hoped that the festival will ease all bitterness by forgiveness and usher in an era of peace and prosperity.
Maj Gen CA Krishnan, IGAR (S) and all ranks of A R also extended their warm greetings and sincere goodwill to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of "Yaoshang (Holi)" .
May this festival herald peace, harmony and prosperity in the state, they wished.
Newmai News Network adds: All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) has wished hearty greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Holi, or Yaoshang as it is locally celebrated here.
It has extended a message of peace with special emphasis on indigenous cultures and sports and a yearning to reform "begging" and color culture associated with the festival.
"AMTU wishes a hearty greeting of Holi/Yaoshang to every individual," said Romeo Bungdon, general secretary of AMTU.
