Traffic offenders to be fined, says SP

Bishnupur, September 16 2016:
Under the Motor Vehicle Act, newly appointed Sub-Inspectors (traffic in-charge) of three sub-divisions of Bishnupur district will issue challans and start levying fines from offenders, said Bishnupur SP Themthing Ngasangva.
While addressing the gathering at the discussion programme on traffic management, SP Themthing Ngasangva said that the Motor Vehicle Act could not be implemented successfully in the district due to lack of police manpower.

With the appointment of new Sub-Inspectors(traffic in-charge), challan signed only by the officers in-charge will be issued to levy fines on traffic offenders.
Fines collected will be transferred directly to the State account.
The discussion programme was also attended by District Transport Officer Simon Keishing, Additional SP K Meghachandra, Additional SP Victoria Yengkhom and elected Chairpersons, Vice-Chairpersons and Councillors of Municipal Councils.
