State seeks central forces

For the ADC election sche-duled on June 1, the State Government has asked the Government of India to requi-sition central paramilitary forces.
Meanwhile, it is reported that 113 companies of State armed forces would be utilized in the ADC election.
IGP L Kailun who is also the security nodal officer of the ensuing election told The Sangai Express that the Ministry of Home Affairs has been approached to requisition CRPF and BSF for the ADC election but there has been no response till date.
It is not yet clear whether central paramilitary forces would be available or not for the election, Kailun said.
Nevertheless, arrangements have been made for deployment of 113 companies of State armed forces and another 43 companies of unarmed police.
Out of total 1163 polling stations, 302 have been classified as hypersensitive and 445 as sensitive.
Arrangements have also been made to provide security escorts to candidates based on the degree of threats faced by them, IGP Kailun added.
