One injured in blast; 2 bombs explode

Imphal, October 15 2015 :
A person sustained injury after two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) bombs planted by suspected underground cadres exploded simultaneously on Thursday morning between Tiger Camp and Pangaltabi under Sagolmang Police Station, Imphal East District.
Sources said some boys from Pangaltabi side went to a playground located near Tiger Camp at around 5 am to play football.
The boys noticed a suspicious object which weighed around four kg on the roadside but they were not sure whether it was a bomb or not.
The locals informed the Sagolmang Police Station about the presence of a suspicious object.
Some personnel posted at Taretkhul Police Outpost came and inspected the site.
A team from Sagolmang Police Station also rushed in to the spot.
Before any bomb expert team from Manipur Police could reach the site, two IED bombs planted around 200 meters far away from the first bomb, exploded at around 9.30 am.
One local identified as Md Amir Khan (28), son of Md Jamir Khan of Purum Pangaltabi was injured and immediately rushed to the Community Health Centre, Sagolmang.
He was hit on his left hand by the splinters of the IED bomb.
A team of 16 Assam Rifles posted at Sagolmang also rushed in to the spot and the police bomb unit reportedly disposed of the second IED bomb at Tiger Camp foothills.
Later, condemning the bomb explosion, locals staged a sit-in protest and appealed all not to repeat such acts in the future.
