Guru Kulla Cultural Academy observes 14th foundation day

The 14th foundation day celebration of Guru Kulla Cultural Academy (GKCA) was held at Sangeet Kala Sangam, Lamlong Bazar today.
The Academy's new production for the year 2022-23 titled 'Nira Nirada Brahma Taal' was also presented as a part of the foundation day celebration.
The programme was graced by Padmashree S Thanil Singh, former Director of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA); M Gunindro Singh, former Senior Account Officer and president of GKCA and Budha Chingtham, president of Cultural Workers & Activist Forum as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
During the programme, Guru Kulla Memorial Award 2022 was presented to renowned Shumang Leela artist, Ningthoujam Rajen popularly known as Keirao Rajen and Sapam Kullabi Singh of Guru Pung for their remarkable contributions in their respective fields.
The award carried a cash prize and a citation.
Also founder and executive members of the academy namely Yendrembam Birjit Singh, Takhelmayum Kuber Singh and Kshetrimayum Bihari Singh were also honoured today.
Performances on Maibi Jagoi, Dhol Dholak Cholom and Manipuri classical dance were also presented as a part of the celebration.
While speaking at the occasion, S Thanil Singh extended best wishes to Guru Kulla Cultural Academy for completing 14 years and expressed belief that the academy will continue to work for the promotion of dance and music.
He maintained that the academy had produced many renowned dance and music artists and lauded the academy for its dedicated efforts.
Further he appealed to the students to respect their teachers and learn the art forms in a disciplined manner so that they will become eminent artists in future.
