Jessami Police rendered inactive with no vehicle

Jessami Police Station, which lies in Ukhrul district bordering with Nagaland, is in a neglected state with no vehicle issued from the State Home Department.
Ultimately, the officers of this Police Station have to face the ire of public for inability to act and take up cases in time owing to lack of vehicle.
According to reports culled from the border village Jessami, 12 trucks loaded with timbers headed towards Jessami from Imphal yesterday.
The last truck in the fleet broke down in the middle of road due to brake failure near the BSF Post at Leni Bridge bordering with Nagaland.
However, the truck could not be pulled out from the spot even with the help of a JCB hired from Ukhrul town.
On the other hand, Nagaland Police had reportedly chided Jessami Police for their inability to clear the road blockage to facilitate the vehicles stranded at Nagaland pass through Jessami-Imphal Highway.
Recently, two persons from Jessami met a road accident at Phek district in Nagaland resulting to the death of one person.
The report of the accident was conveyed to Jessami Police Station by Nagaland Police.
However, the officers of Jessami Police Station could not go immediately to the spot located at just 2/3 kilometres from the Station.
Later, they had to hire a private vehicle to go to the spot.
Nagaland Police had mocked at Jessami Police for not possessing a vehicle.
Jessami Police had to hire private vehicles on several occasions.
They could not go to crime spots immediately or pick up dead bodies.
In fact, Jessami Police Station seems to have no significance in public view.
Meanwhile, social organizations of Jessami area have urged the authorities concerned to develop the deplorable NH-150 (Jessami-Imphal Road) and issue required vehicles to the Police Station to enable the police personnel perform their duties properly.
