RPL, NWU reject Army claim as 'blatant lie'

Rongmei Lu Phuam-Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (RLP-AMN) and Naga Women's Union (NWU) maintained that the statement issued by PIB (Defence Wing) in connection with harassment of civilians during an operation carried out under Red Shield Division at Khoupum valley area on 14th July, 2013, was a blatant lie to cover the excesses committed by Major Sachin and his troops of 8 Gorkha Regiment.
The fact was that Nailin Malangmei of Satudi was severely assaulted despite his innocence, and it can't be denied.
PIB Defence Wing must have been mislead by wrong information provided by the field in-charge to escape legal complication, Panti Gonmei, President of RLP and Aram Pamei, President of NWU asserted in a joint statement.
RLP and NWU appealed to the government of Manipur to redress the grievances of the victim with adequate compensation against the damage of victim's eardrum damaged and disabled legs as well as the mental and physical agony created by 8 Gorkha Regiment at Khoupum.
