Bodies extend aid

The All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers Union and the Nagaland based Surface Transport, Ecology and Environment Society have extended material assistance to transporters stranded at different parts of Nagaland and Assam after a section of Imphal-Dimapur highway caved in near Nagaland.
The aid materials were handed over to the stranded transporters by M Anil Meitei, secretary organisation of the All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers Union and Bipin Sophy, president of the Surface Transport, Ecology and Environment Society.
The duo have been distributing food items and medicines to transporters stranded at Zubza, Pherima, Janapani, Lahorijan and Khatkhatti since the past two/three days.
Meanwhile, the Government of Nagaland has been working hard to repair the highway section which sunk near Kohima.
Nagaland Police have also taken up necessary precautionary measures to avoid unwanted incidents, Anil said.
