Phayeng Village Authority apologises to Forest Department

A meeting was held on Friday at the Conference Hall of Forest Head Office, Sanjenthong between members of Phayeng Village Authority and officials of the Forest Department to discuss and clarify the incident where a signboard indicating Kangchup Chiru Reserved Forest was removed.
A release issued by Divisional Forest Officer, Kangpokpi Forest Division, Kangpokpi informed that at the meeting, the village authority represented by the Khullakpa and members of Gram Panchayat expressed their apology over the incident that took place at Phayeng.
The village authority and Forest Department also resolved to jointly reinstall the signboard within two days.
The meeting also resolved to constitute a Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) at Phayeng to aid in conservation and protection of the Reserved Forest.
"In the current scenario, joint effort is the need of the hour to combat Climate Change and all present agreed to work together to enrich the Reserved Forest and continue the work of planting more trees", it concluded.
