At the function, Longjam Memchoubi stated that the mass campaign has been initiated to save 'our youth' from the grip of drugs and the same will be carried out in every nook and corner of the State.
Claiming that many Manipuris including women have been killed by security forces in the name of counter insurgency measures in the past while many others have been killed by overdose and intoxication, she added that the drug menace causes extensive problems and the same must be dealt with properly to save the State and her future.
Further stating that women in Manipur have been playing a key role to root out drug menace even by spending overnight in a local shed or elsewhere, she claimed that involvement of high profile individuals such as lawmakers and police personnel in illicit drug business is very unfortunate.
She said that substance abuse is the main factor of degradation of moral values among the youth.
Lauding the State Government for its stand to end drug menace, the Meira Paibi leader urged all to come out and play their part to root out the drug menace from Manipur completely.
