Nisith Pramanik visits NCOE, promises more Khelo India centres for Manipur

Union minister of state for Youth Affairs & Sports, Nisith Pramanik on Saturday interacted with national sports awardees, officials of SAI, coaches, and scientific staff in the field of sports at Sports Authority of Indian National Centre of Excellence (NCOE), Takyelpat Complex, Imphal.
During the interaction programme, national awardees, coaches, scientific staff shared their experiences and activities in their respective fields of sports.
Cyclist coaches shared their grievances and the hardship they faced during rainy season and sought the help of the minister for opening Indoor stadium for cycling.
The union minister told them that after the introduction of Khello India initiative under prime minister Narendra Modi, the country is planning to allocate more Khello India centres in Manipur as Manipur is the sport powerhouse of the country.
About the Indoor Stadium for cyclists, Nisith Pramanik assured that he would discuss with the minister and department concerned in that regard.
He further stated that medallist from Manipur won their medals not only for their families, friends or for themselves and the state but also for the nation and made the country proud.
Nisith then exhorted the athletes to work hard and make the country proud in days to come.
RC Mishra (retd IAS), VC National Sports University, SS Chabbra, principal secretary YAS Manipur, T Phulen Meitei, director YAS and Francis Marwein, regional director SAI, also attended the interaction programme.
Plantation of tree saplings by Nisith Pramanik, SS Chhabra, principal secretary YAS and Francis Marwein, and an inspection of Sports Science Centre, Human Performance Laboratory, Department of Physiology, was conducted prior to the interaction programme.
