Phayeng VA, Forest Dept patch up

An agreement was reached between Phayeng Village Authority and Forest Department on June 10 after a meeting was held at the conference hall of Forest Head Office, Sanjenthong here.
The meeting attended by Phayeng VA members and Forest Department officials discussed and cleared the issue surrounding the incident that took place at Phayeng village wherein a signboard indicating Kangchup Chiru Reserved Forest was first put up and later removed following protest by the villagers, In a release, Kangopokpi Forest Division divisional forest officer N Ganesh stated that the Phayeng Village Authority, represented by the chief and members of Phayeng Gram Panchayat, expressed their apology over the incident and resolved that the signboard will be jointly reinstalled by the VA and Forest Department within two days' time.
In the meeting it was also resolved to form a Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) at Phayeng to aid in conservation and protection of the Reserved Forest area.
Regarding joint survey by the Revenue Department and Forest Department, any discrepancies in the boundary of the Reserved Forest will be addressed to the aforementioned department officials.
All present at the meeting also agreed to work together to enrich the Reserved Forest and continue the work of planting more trees, it added.
