LKRD fetes Water Resources Minister

The Liangmai Katinah Ruangdi (LKRD) on Friday warmly felicitated Awangbow Newmai, Minister for Water Resources and Relief & Disaster Management, Government of Manipur, at the Community Centre, PTS Malviya, New Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Awangbow Newmai appreciated the LKRD team and presented monetary assistance of Rs 1.5 Lakh to the students body.
He encouraged the youths and urged them to focus and work hard on their studies, to excel in whatever they do whether working in the private or central service sector.
He also dwelled at length on the history of the Nagas, sufferings endured by the forefathers and his journey of overcoming the odds.
As part of the event, the Water Resources Minister also launched a Sponsorship Programme for Students under the theme, "Late Namrang's Merit Scholarship" to provide academic opportunities for aspiring candidates in SSC and Banking examinations for a period of five years.

Namthonlungbo Newmai, president of LKRD thanked the dignitaries for gracing the function and congratulated Awangbow for his success in the recently concluded Manipur General Assembly Election.
He also acknowledged Hibu Tamang, IPS Joint Commissioner of Police & Nodal Officer for Northeast Region, for lending support with the Special Police Unit for North Eastern region (SPUNER) team to the Northeast people in the city.
The Felicitation cum Musical Evening began with a prayer followed by a blessing hour conducted by Dr Kaikho Wijunamai, Pastor Liangmai Christian Fellowship Delhi (LCFD) .
Hecy Marinmai, former employee of Prasar Bharati and Major Moses Charenamai (retired), chairman of Liangmai Ruangdi Delhi also spoke on the occasion.
The second session of the programme, a Musical Evening, showcased some talented young artistes from the Northeast region.
The performing artistes at the fun-filled evening included Allbert N Hau (winner of Naga Orpheus hunt 2014), Blessing Nchangtah, Jubal Pamai, Michael T Manlun, Maithonliu Marenmai and the band Faithline.
It may be mentioned that LKRD, established in 2011 has been actively involved in community works over the years interacting and cooperating with peers and elders, helping students with their college admission procedures and organising Literary Meet among others reflecting their spirit of goodwill and generosity.
