Imphal, February 24 2011:
Around 300 people including women and children who have fled from different places of Sadar Hills are still taking refuge at Sekmai community hall.
People of a majority community of the State left their homesteads after KNF (P), a SoO signatory armed group, allegedly asked them to leave Sadar Hills yesterday.
Around 100 people fled their homes and took refuge at Sekmai yesterday and another 200 people reached Sekmai today.
The localities of this particular community at different places of Sadar Hills wore a deserted look when a media team from Imphal visited these areas today.
Houses were seen locked with domestic animals and fowls straying at the residential complexes and bylanes.

However, a few elderly persons could be seen in some houses.
A police officer at Motbung town said that police are trying their best to maintain calm and tranquillity in these areas.
Police even insisted the fleeing people not to leave their respective houses, he informed.
Police are manning the houses and properties of the fleeing people, he added.
Meanwhile, people who are taking shelter at Sekmai said that they would not return to their respective homes until their safety is assured.
As they are threatened to kill, they are in a panicky state and would not be able to return until KNF (P) gives an assurance that the outfit would not harm them, they added.
A relief camp is opened at Sekmai SC community hall by Awang Sekmai Women Advanced Society and Awang Sekmai Nagar Panchayat.
Local people, social bodies and social workers are providing material and ration needs to the displaced people.
Most people taking shelter at the camp are from Sapermeina, Motbung and Kalapahar.
