Imphal, February 24 2011:
In connection with the detention of three innocent youngsters by troops of 23 Assam Rifles stationed at Sagolmang in Imphal East district, local womenfolk stormed the AR post today.
Sarangthem Thanglemba (25) of Wakhong Mayai Leikai, Sarangthem Leingakpa (24) of the same locality and Thoudam Karpin (22) of Wakhong Awang Leikai were pulled up from their respective houses by troops of 23 AR who came in a white coloured Gypsy at about 11.30 last night.
They were allegedly subjected to severe torture on the charge that they involved in collecting money for KYKL and possessed computer sets and other gadgets used in preparing letterheads for the proscribed outfit.
Contending that all three of them are innocent civilians, a large number of womenfolk belonging to Sagolmang, Wakhong, Pukhao and Uyumpok stormed the AR post this
morning.
Moreover, the Imphal-Saikul was blocked besides shutting Sagolmang Keithel.
As AR troops brought out the three youngsters in one of their vehicle to hand them over to Lamlai police station, the womenfolk managed to snatch the three youngsters near Sagolmang PHC.
Thanglemba is now unable to move on account of the thrashing by AR troops besides having problem while urinating.
He has been admitted in a hospital.
Leingakpa and Karpin also sustained severe injuries.
About two months back, Thanglemba and Leingakpa were summoned to the AR post and they went to the post with their parents and clarified their positions.
The womenfolk accused the AR troops currently posted at Sagolmang of randomly pulling up and torturing innocent civilians as well as former UG cadres who were released on bail.
They also demanded that the AR post should be removed immediately.
