Husband of deceased woman clarifies

Irom Herojit of Kyamgei Awang Leikai, who has been accused of murdering his own wife, has asserted that he will accept any form of punishment in case his guilt could be established.
Maternal family members of deceased Irom Ongbi Tombisana (18) had been alleging that Herojit was responsible for the dead of the young housewife, even though Tombisana's in-laws had been insisting that she died due to consumption of poison.
Speaking to newspersons at Kyamgei Popular Club today, Herojit maintained that he and Tombisana entered into wedlock as they were in love and under no circumstance would he kill her.
Reiterating that Tombisana was rushed to RIMS Hospital at around 7.30 pm of February 20 as there was strong suspicion that she had consumed pesticide, Herojit said his wife failed to response to treatment and passed away at around 10.15 pm.
He also stated that on the same evening Tombisana complained of dizziness and went to bed when she was asked to prepare dinner.
After she was found collapsing on the bed Tombisana was rushed to RIMS Hospital, Herojit maintained while clarifying that their relationship was very cordial.
He also recounted that there was an instance of asking for a loan amount of Rs 20,000 from Tombisana's parents.
While rejecting accusation by his mother-in-law that he strangulated Tombisana and put the pesticide in her mouth to pass off the incident as a case of consuming poison, Herojit also clarified that neither poisoned Tombisana nor was cruel to her.
With regard to his in-laws allegations that he gave in to the police due to his criminal conduct, Herojit conveyed that he was summoned to the police station in connection with the case.
While declaring that he would accept any form of punishment if he was found guilty, Herojit also affirmed that he would seek custody of the young daughter and will be take legal recourse if his in-laws raise objection.
Herojit's mother Tamubi and sister-in-law Anita, who were also present during the media briefing also clarified that there was no confrontation in the family that could have forced Tombisana to take the drastic step and expressed that they would accept all forms of punitive action, if found guilty.
Secretary of Kyamgei Maning Leikai women's Development Association namely L ibemhal, who was also present at the occasion, informed that if found guilty, entire family of Herojit would be driven out of the locality.
