Imphal, February 24 2011:
The Zeliangrong Baudi has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohon Singh drawing his attention towards addressing the hardships and problems being faced by the people of Tamenglong district.
In the memorandum, the ZB said that the 133/33 KV sub-station at Rengpang on the NH-53 in Tamenglong district was inaugurated by the Chief Minister on January 8 last without completing the phases of power supply.
As a result, people have been experiencing erratic power supply.
Tamenglong district has the poorest road connectivity and the only connectivity that the district has from NH 53 to district HQ is a road with a length of 39.5 km.
This road became a fair weather road only recently.
Most of the roads leading to blocks and sub-diviisonal HQ are not motorable specially during the rainy season, the memorandum pointed.
The district hospital is running without adequate staff, specialists and equipments.
Most of the CHCs, PHCs and PHSC are poorly equipped in the district.
Items of the public distribution system are also not reaching the poor people at the remote villages.
Most of the government offices in the district remained under lock and key for most of the time due to non-stationing of staff posted in the offices.
Villagers and farmers coming from remote villages have to go back without meeting officers and without fulfilling their purpose in most of the times, the memorandum added.
