Mortal remains of the four IRB personnel killed in a PLA ambush have been put to rest with fitting State honours today.
Fitting tributes were paid to the slain IRB men at Police Memorial Square inside 1st Bn Manipur Rifles campus here today.
The IRB men were killed in an ambush launched by the proscribed PLA along the hilly and snaking road at Karong Chingjin near Ningthemcha Khul in Imphal East district last morning.
Kh Bicky (22) and his cousin Kh Amuchou (30), both belonging to Kyamgei Heibong Makhong, Kh Nando of Thoubal Athokpam and Thuisinpao (Ashing) Rongmei of Mukti Khullen, Tamenglong were killed in the ambush.
Post mortem examination of the corpses were conducted today at RIMS.
Their coffins, covered with white clothes were taken to 1st Bn MR campus.
At the Police Memorial Square, the coffins were covered with National flags.
There, last respects were paid to the slain IRB men with sounding of the last post, gun salute and silence observance.
As a mark of respect to the departed souls, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi led the way in placing wreaths on the coffins.
Speaker Dr Sapam Budhichandra, Ministers Phungzathang Tonsing, Ph Parijat, K Ranjit and MLAs Bijoy Koijam, Y Surchandra, E Dwijamani, I Hemochandra and Kh Loken also joined in offering their respects to the departed souls.
Top police officials and family members of the deceased IRB men were also present at the occasion.
Later, the coffins of the slain IRB men were taken to their birth places for the last rites.
