Imphal, September 13, 2009:
Manipur University Tribal Students' Union (MUTSU) called for early declaration of results of the examination for the recruitment of Assistant Registrar and Assistant Finance Officer in a free and fair way.
A press release said that the union would stand as a vanguard against all nepotism and malpractices in the said matter.
The union said that it is appalling and apprehensive in which the implementation of the reservation policy for the STs in the matter of employment and filling up of backlog vacancies in the university is concerned.
Maintaining that there are only three ST teachers out of 156 posts, the union said that the university is ignoring the UGC norms despite making repeated reminders from MUTSU.
In the non-teaching category as well, the union added, only 38 ST persons have been inducted out of 322 recruited candidates.
The union also urged the UGC to withhold further Non-plan Grants to the University till the UGC norms are properly adopted in the university.
