Imphal, September 13, 2009:
Reacting to claims by security forces that four persons apprehended from different places on September 9 and 11 are its members, the proscribed RPF has dismissed the report as baseless and concocted.
Such unfounded claims are part of the agenda to brand innocent civilians as UG elements and an age-old practice of the security force personnel to get the blessing from their higher-ups enroute to promotion, alleged the outfit's chief of department of Publicity GM Changjou.
Changjou recounted that on September 9, SP (IE) claimed that police commandos arrested one yambem Nandeshwor alias Jolis (39) s/o Y Birchand of Sawombung Wairi from Kongpal Thongkhong from whom one 9 mm pistol, a magazine and three live rounds were seized.
A combined team of police commandos and 39 AR also claimed to have nabbed Oinam Sanajaoba alias Maimu (28) of Heingang Mayai leikai along with one Sapam (O) Kebi Devi (55) w/o Ibungobi of Phaknung Makha Leikai from Heingang Panthoibi Lampak at around 11.30 am.
Police claimed to have recovered a hand grenade from the duo.
The RPF statement also quoted Additional SP (Thoubal) as saying that troops of 21 AR and Thoubal district police commandos apprehending Gurumayum Kanglen Sharma alias Suras (20) s/o G bihari sharma of Chairen Mayai leikai from Kakching Khunou bazar on September 11. All these persons have no connection with the RPF/PLA organisation, reiterated Changjou while urging the general public to remain vigilant so that such baseless claims of the police do not confuse the citizens.
