Four slain IRB personnel given state honour

Imphal, September 13, 2009:
One cadre of the People's Liberation Army(PLA), the army wing of the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF), who reportedly took part and sustained injuries in yesterday's ambush the PLA laid against a group of 6th IRB personnel at Ngakha Cheeng near Okshu in Imphal East district has been admitted to Shija Hospitals at Langol for treatment this afternoon.
He has been arrested by the police.
The arrested injured cadre has been identified as Moirangthem Ingo @ Pholendro (30), son of M Rameshwar of Khurai Kongpal Ningthoubung Leikai.
Police said that he joined the PLA 11 years ago.
He sustained a bullet injury in his left abdomen.
He has been operated upon and being attended to in the ICU of the hospital.
When he was admitted to Shija Hospitals, his name was given as Naorem Shanta (30), son of N Inaocha, Bishnupur, reports said.
He was brought to the hospital by some unknown persons at about 4.10 pm.
They are reported to have told the hospital that he sustained bullet injuries.
Police sources said, on receiving an information that a man with bullet injuries has been admitted to Shija Hospitals, a team of Imphal West district police commandos rushed to the hospital.
On verification of the injured man, it was found that he is a PLA cadre, police said.
Police further said that he must have sustained the injuries in yesterday's ambush when the IRB personnel retaliated.
However, it is not yet confirmed whether he really took part in yesterday's ambush or not since he is yet to be interrogated.
Meanwhile, the four IRB personnel who were killed in yesterday's ambush were given full state honour during a condolence ceremony held at the premises of 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles this afternoon.
It may be recalled here that Khuraijam Amuchou (30) of Kiyamgei, Rifleman No.6070150 'B'Coy, Khuraijam Biky (22) of the same locality, Rifleman No.6070055 'A' Coy (both are cousins), Thuisingpou Rongmei of Khoupum, Rifleman No.6070513 'B' Coy and Khangemba Nanda (27) of Thoubal Athokpam, Rifleman No.607117 'B'Coy were killed in an ambush laid by PLA cadres yesterday.
Post mortem on all the four bodies was done at the RIMS morgue today.
Later, personnel of 6th IRB brought the mortal remains of the four slain personnel to the 1st Bn MR where floral tributes were offered and full state honour was given to them.Chief Minister O Ibobi, his cabinet colleagues, Congress MLAs, top police officials, family members of the deceased personnel, relatives, etc.

A contingent of 1st MR fired three rounds to offer general salute to the four slain personnel and sounded the last post.
Later, the bodies were taken to their homes for performing last rites.
