Forty-eight candidates of Congress elected uncontested in the elections to the hill district councils, said MPCC president, Gaikhangam today speaking at the function felicitating two councilors of the Moirang Municipal Council to Congress recently joined the party.
Two councilors of Moirang Municipal Council have joined the Congress.
They were felicitated in a function held today at Congress Bhavan, Imphal.
The two councilors who joined the Congress were councilor of ward no.6 Phairenjam Bheigyabati of Federal Party and councilor of ward no 12 Tongbram Ibopishak of MPP.
With their joining to the Congress, the party has now 10 councilors in the 12-member Moirang Municipal Council.
Speaking on the occasion, Gaikhangam expressed thanks to the two councilors believing to the ideology of the party.
In the ADC election in the midst of chaotic situation of the state 31 Congress candidate have been elected uncontested in the first phase while 17 in the second phase.
The Congress having its 31 members in the Manipur Legislative Assembly will improve its condition in the next general elections to the state Assembly, he said calling workers of the party to work hard from now so that Congress government return to power again in the state.
Vice president MLA T Mangibabu, MLA M Prithivraj and Congress councilors of Moirang Municipal Council were among others who attended the felicitation function held at the Congress Bhavan.
