Imphal, May 12 2010:
Renouncing the State Government's order for implementation of the 6th Pay Commission's recommendations, the JAC of AMGEO and AMTUC surrendered the same order to the Governor today.
The JAC contended that the Manipur Service (Revised Pay) Rules 2010 issued by Principal Secretary AN Jha on May 5 was not about 6th Pay but 'State Pay'.
Talking to media persons on their way to surrender the order copy, JAC secretary general Ch Chan dramani said that the JAC held a meeting a Kalimai Mandop this morning and deliberated the Government's order for implementation of the 6th Pay.
After discussing the order minutely, the meeting decided to surrender the pay order to the Government.
To surrender the pay order, around 500 employees marched towards the Raj Bhavan from Kalimai mandop but they were blocked by police.
Later, a team of eight representatives were allowed to proceed to the Raj Bhavan but they could not meet the Governor.
The representatives then surrendered the order copy through the Governor's Secretary.
Asserting that the order issued by the State Government was State pay, not 6th Pay though it was similar to the 6th Pay in structure, the JAC secretary general maintained that the employees would continue with their agitation.
