Tengnoupal, August 28 2018:
People of 27 villages in Tengnoupal district has raised serious questions over the "callousness" of the Government and asked if the Go To Hill Mission is for District Headquarters only.
Speaking to media persons after inspecting a PMGSY road which stretched from "Ringpam to High Court", D Modar, Chief of Parengtong village said that the 20 km stretch is in worse of the conditions.
Alleging that quality has not been maintained during the construction of the road, the Chief said that people of 27 villages near Parengtong village and Thabi Keithel under Machi Block are not happy with the Government's "apathy filled" Go To Hill Mission.
"Conduction of GTH at District Headquarters only will not uplift the whole district," he said.
The road has been constructed poorly.
Culverts and bridges along the road are broken as quality was not maintained, said the Chief and added that the 27 villages had warned the contractors that they may not collect bills until the road, culverts and bridges are not reconstructed properly to meet the expectations of the people.
The rains have worsened the condition of the road.
Passenger services have been halted due to the deplorable condition of the road.
The villagers are facing serious problems when transporting people to hospital, informed the Chief.
"We have to carry patients by foot as passenger vehicles have stopped their service," he said.
"With the help of Khoibu DCC ADC member W Morungson, shingling of the road have started from today," he said and appealed the concerned authorities and the Government to take immediate actions to repair the damaged road.
