General Conference of AMGSU concludes

The two day long 52nd Annual General Conference of All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) concluded at Charhajare in Kangpokpi District today which was marked with felicitations, thanks giving, discussion on various important issues of the Gorkhas in Manipur and other cultural extravaganzas.
The closing ceremony of the AMGSU 52nd Annual General Conference was graced by Kamal Khanal, AGM, RBO, State Bank of India as chief guest while Md Ataorahman, Branch Manager, SBI Sekmai Branch and LB Adhikari, president AMGSU as guest of honour and functional president respectively.
Ram Bahadur Karki, GB Irang Part-JJ; Kharga Prasain, Headmaster, Bishnulal High School, Charhajare and Hari Maya Poudel, Headmistress, Gorkha High School, Kalapahar attended as special guests.
Speaking at the function, Kamal Khanal said that the Gorkhas always safeguard its culture, identity, literature and tradition everywhere they settled adding that he is really proud to be a Gorkha who had made immense contribution for the welfare of all communities in the state.
The AGM while conveying gratitude to the Union for their selfless efforts for the welfare of the Gorkha community particularly the Gorkha student community said that students must be careful in building their career as they live in such a competitive world.
Kharga Prasain paid tributes to the late leaders of AMGSU and the Gorkha students who have made immense contribution for the union while motivating the present leaders and student community to work harder for the society and the student community.
LB Adhikari, president AMGSU who was always against unwanted usages of social media by the student community encouraged the Gorkha student community to abstain from unnecessary usage of social media and rather embraced the path that can lead to quality education.
He also expressed gratitude to everyone who had contributed for the success of the All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union 52nd Annual General Conference.
The closing ceremony was attended by about 300 delegates of AMGSU units from across the state and discussed on various plans to be implemented for AMGSU in 2019 during the conference.
The closing day also witnessed felicitation of Gorkha social workers, intellectuals, elected representatives, chairmen/secretaries of various Gorkha villages and organizations.
Special session on the topic "need of the AMGSU for Gorkha society in Manipur" was also enthusiastically deliberated with Dr Tankanath Khatiwoda, HOD, Department of Hindi, Presidency College Motbung and Shiva Kumar Basnet, ex-Pradhan, Kanglatongbi GP as the main speakers.
