Locals thrash URF cadre for stealing

Imphal, December 10 2013:
A cadre belonging to armed outfit United Revolutionary Front (URF) was caught and beaten up by locals on a charge of stealing a truck battery at Senjam Chirang village of Imphal West district on Tuesday.
Significantly, URF is one of the parties to the Lallumba faction of Kangleipak Communist Party-Military Council that had recently signed suspension of operation (SoO) pact with the Government.
All the cadres of both outfits are currently lodging at a designated camp near Loitang Spinning Mill under Sekmai Police Station.
Phuritshabam Sonex, 29, who hails from Uripok Bachaspati Leikai, reportedly lifted a battery from a stationary truck at Senjam Chirang on December 8 .
The local residents discovered that Sonex had committed the theft.
He was held by a group of locals and beaten up at Senjam Chirang early morning today before he was rescued by the police.
A case has been registered with the Sekmai Police Station to investigate into the incident.
