FEGOCTA lauds HC order

The Federation of Government College Teachers' Associations (FEGOCTA) Manipur has warmly welcomed the order of the High Court of Manipur passed on May 16 in connection with a writ petition filed by the Government College teachers.
A press release issued by the general secretary of FEGOCTA mentioned that the High Court order directed the State Government to submit a reply by August 31 as to why the Government College teachers should not be treated at par with other employees of the State Government in 6th Pay implementation.
Informing that Dr RK Deepak Singh, advocate for the college teachers served the legal notice to the Government on July 18, it stated that FEGOCTA will support the filling of case against the discrimination of the college teachers by denying the allowances of SCA and TA since 6th Pay implementation.
It continued that FEGOCTA submitted representations to the Government to implement 7th UGC Pay and Regulations, 2018, on December 4 last year, February 7 this year and today., and once against appealed to the Government not to force the college teachers to go to strike.
On the other hand, the Council of Teachers Association (COTA) submitted memo to the Chief Minister and the Education Minister demanding implementation of 7th Central Pay for the teachers at the earliest.
A press release issued by the co-convenor of COTA mentioned that the memo cautioned that failure to fulfil the demand of the association on part of the Government will be an invitation for the teachers to go on strike and resort to various forms of agitation.
