Inclusion of Momoko assault incident in BA syllabus flayed

Kakching, January 18 2014 : Anal Naga civil organisations have strongly condemned and opposed inclusion of unfortunate incident in which a Manipuri Film actress, Momoko was assaulted by one cadre of NSCN (IM) identified as Livingstone Anal in the syllabus of B A 3rd year 6th Semester.

At the same time, they have also denounced the illegal land encroachment at Thangbung Minou near Moreh by District Administration of Chandel, Ministry of Industries and one Lalkholun Haokip of Haolenphai Village for construction of new township.

Briefing media persons at Panchai Village in Chandel District today, Wng.

Kohring Victor, President of Anal Naga Taangpi (ANTA), an apex body of the Anal tribe, said, "It very unfortunate to learn that the state government and the education department has prescribed a Political Science text book "Indian Government and Politics" for B..A3rd Year 6th semester authored by one Prof.Naorem Rabei Singh which include the unfortunate incident of a Manipuri Actress Momoko was assaulted by S/S Lt.Col.Livingstone of NSCN-IM on December 18, 2012 .

Victor informed that to discuss the issue a meeting of Anal civil organisations including students and women bodies was held on January 17, 2014 at the office of Anal Students' Union, Panchai Village and strongly condemned the State Government, Education Deparment and Prof..NRabei for inclusion of the incident of Momoko assault in the prescribed text book of Political science.

During the said meeting Anal civil organisations also adopted a resolution to demand the state government to punish the author of the said text book and to clarify the intention for inclusion of the particular incident in the prescribed text book despite the fact that there are more than thousands of such incidents and cases of killings, rapes, tortures, etc, Victor disclosed.

Victor further informed that the meeting also strongly opposed the illegal land encroachment of Thangbung Minou Village near Moreh for construction of a new township by the district administration of Chandel, Industries Minister in collusion with one Lalkholun Haokip of Haolenphai village.

He warned that if the state government failed to take up necessary action positively, the civil organisations of Anal tribe will launch intense agitations.

Thurhring Chief of Thangbung Minou, who was also present during the press meet, explained that the land acquired by the state government for setting up the new township actually belongs to Thangbung Minou Village since time immemorial.

But the said village was shifted temporarily at Chandel District headquarters during the Naga Kuki ethnic clash in early 90s.Ps.
