Dimapur, January 18 2014 :
As part of the measures to ease com-munal tension in Assam's trouble torn Karbi Anglong district, one more land-mark meeting was held today in Di-mapur between the Naga civil society organisations and the Ahom Royal Society.
Today's meeting was preceded by similar meeting bet- ween the Naga civil society organisations and those of Karbi community on Jan 14 at Diphu in Karbi Anglong.
Regarding today's event, the Naga side was represent-ed by several Naga frontal bo- dies including Naga Students' Federation, Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights and Naga Council Dimapur under the aegis of Naga Hoho which met the Ahom Royal Society at Bookmarc Conference Hall, Dimapur.
The mee- ting had a threadbare discussion over the prevailing situa- tion in Karbi Anglong between the Karbi community and the Rengma Naga.
The meeting viewed with all sincerity that normalcy and peace must be restored in the region at the earliest since both communities have co-existed in the past as indigenous people.
Today's meeting appealed to both communities to shun violence and bloodshed between brothers once and for all.
Further, the meeting strongly felt that, both Assam and Central Govt should initiate steps to prevent ethnic clashes and bring permanent solution at the earliest.
It can be recalled here that the Naga civil societies led by Naga Hoho and the Karbi ci-vil societies led by Karbi An- glong Peace Forum at Diphu in Assam had demanded for the enquiry being ordered in the killing of nine Karbi youths in Nagaland also include the killing and arson incidents in Karbi Anglong.
That January 14 meeting was of the opinion that a third force was involved in the killings and arson both in Dima- pur and Karbi Anglong.
The third force must be identified and eliminated once and for all.
Also, the enquiry must include all the incidents of ethnic violence in Karbi Anglong since 2003 .
It is also worth noting here that thousands of Rengma Nagas and Karbis have been displaced in the latest ethnic flare-up which began on December 14 last.
