Abducted drivers, supervisors released
2 more workers abducted by suspected Kuki militants

Imphal, January 18 2014 :
The two dozer drivers and two mohoris (supervisors), who were abducted by suspected Kuki militants from Singda area on January 11 for a ransom of Rs one crore, were released safely by the abductors at Khonghampat under Sekmai Police Station at around 8.30 pm yesterday.
The released drivers were Laishram Bijesh (28), s/o L Manglemjao of Wangoo Naodakhong and Sarangthem Anand (25), s/o Hero of Thoubal Khetri Leikai, while the supervisors were Angom Patel (57) of Uripok Ahanthem Leikai and Sarangthem Ingo (50) of Malom Awang Leikai.
The drivers and supervisors told media persons that they were abducted from their work site at Singda area by some three/four armed persons at around 10.30 am on January 11.The abductors took them to a secluded place on the same day after going through some villages on foot and later in a truck.
They were held captive at that place for six days.
However, they were dropped at Khonghampat area in a van by the abductors at around 8.30 pm yesterday.
They reached home safely after informing to their contractors, they said.
Meanwhile, another two workers were abducted by some suspected Kuki militants from their workplace at Inter-Village Road near Kanglatongbi Mandir under Sekmai Police Station at around 9 pm yesterday.
According to report, three armed men who came in a van barged into a makeshift tent of the workers and then pulled up the two labourers and left the place quickly.
The abducted workers have been identified as Thongam Santa (54) of Moirang and Maibam Tomba (35), s/o Mangi of Thoubal Nepra Company.
Tomba is said to be a Tata DI mini truck driver.
They have been working there for a special private contractor named Maibam Joy of Charangpat Nepra Company.
Sekmai police has filed an FIR over the incident after contractor Joy lodged a complaint about the abduction.
On Saturday, a combined team of Sekmai police and Imphal West district police commandos carried out cordon and search operation in Sapermeina area.
But there is no report of any arrest made during the operation.
Police said that the search would continue to find out the whereabouts of the two workers who are believed to have been abducted for ransom.
