Five killed in bus accident

Five passengers of a mini bus were killed and many, including five of a family, injured when their vehicle hit a bridge on NH-34 at Kolajal in Kamrup district of Assam early today, police said.
The driver of the bus, co-ming from Siliguri in West Bengal to Manipur through Assam, was suspected to have hit the bridge because of dense fog and failure to see the subways due to road construction in the wee hours.
The injured, including a child, were admitted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital, Downtown Hospital and Hayatt Hospital of the city.
All the passengers hailed from Manipur, police said.
While one A Chandra (35) of Leimakhong has been confirmed dead, identities of the other deceased persons cannot be ascertained till the time of filing this report.
It is said that Chandra was among five family members travelling in the ill-fated bus.
The victims as well as those injured in the accident are said to be from Leima-khong, Tadubi, Henbung and Chingmeirong areas and were returning from Nepal.
