Imphal, September 10 2013:
The two most important public hospitals in the state are RIMS and JNIMS, but doctors in these hospitals are unavailable for the public as they devoted their service in private clinics.
Government paid hefty Non-Practicing Allowances solely for them not to work in private clinic or hospitals.
Unfortunately, government doctors simply left aside the ethics of being in the profession and work in private dispensaries to make money, K Ibomcha Singh, President of Manipur Youth's League (MAYOL), Manipur said in a statement.
As doctors are busying and tired of working in private clinics they are always found with bad temper when available at public hospital and turn up for work only for name sake.
Thus, poor people, who come to public hospitals to avail their services, are facing problems and went home discontented, Ibomcha stated.
Highlighting the way doctors are practicing in the state, a memorandum has been submitted to the Prime Minister, Union Health Ministry and Manipur government for necessary actions.
MAYOL with the help of public is ready to take up agitations if the concerned higher authorities failed to act promptly over the matter, he warned.
