Funds drawn without work

Members of Abungchiang Nagaching (Part) 1 Pei have drawn the attention of all authorities concerned in misappropriation of fund meant for Abungchiang part 1 villages under MGNREGS and PHED by the then former Chairperson Dithonliu Kamei and others.
Alleging this in a press note, Abungchiang Part 1 Pei said, a sum of Rs 80,000/- was sanctioned for construction of slab culvert at Abungchiang part 1 under material component (MC) funds, MGNREGS phase II in 2010-11.The said amount was withdrawn and pocketed by the above mentioned person without physical execution in the field, instead she had taken photograph of slab culvert being constructed somewhere and submitted to the DRDA office Tamenglong with completion report along with the fake photos.
She had also withdrawn Rs 30,000/- for construction of water tank (Phase II 2010-11) at Abungchiang part 1 without any physical execution of work.
Fund for construction of another slab culvert under MC, MGNREGS (Phase I 2012-13) amounting to Rs 80,000/- was also withdrawn by her without any work being executed in the village, the note added.
It also alleged that Dithonliu Kamei and her accomplice Pingjon Gangmei misappropriated man day wages of 38 days of work under MGNREGS for 2012-13 by withdrawing it in July 2013 and not a single paise distributed/paid to 35 job card holders.
In the meantime, a sum of Rs 2000/- i.e only one third of the total amount was paid for 30 job card holders, robbing their due share and benefits by the said person.
'Over and above, she had sold away 280 nos of GI popes meant for water supply at Abungchiang part 1 under PHED.
Therefore, the suppossed construction work of intake arrangement Reservior, public stand post and fixing of GI pipeline with the completion time by December 2010 was not executed till date.
As a result, not a drop of water under the water supply scheme of the PHED is available in the village', the press note read.
It then stated, the village Pei requested the authorities concerned to look into the matter and deliver justice to the aggrieved villagers who had been deprived of their due share, benefit as a citizen of this country and the culprits must be booked under law of the land.
