Border sealed to check UG infiltration: GOC Poonnen

Subsequent to the June 10 deadline given by Myanmarese authority to the NE insurgent groups to leave its soil, Indo-Myanmar border on Manipur side has been sealed to check infiltration of insurgents, GOC Red Shield Division Major General Binoy Poonnen has informed.
Speaking to mediapersons on the sideline of inaugurating a community hall constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5 lakhs by 657 EME Bn under Military Civic Action Programme at NC Phai village today, the Major General said that necessary measures have been put in place to check infiltration of insurgents to Manipur after Myanmarese Army flushed them out.
"The step taken up by Myanmarese authority to drive out NE insurgent groups from its territory is laudable.
However, we have to wait and see the outcome", the Major General observed, adding that so far there is no report of any insurgents crossing over the border.
Earlier, inaugurating the community hall, the Major General said that Indian Army has been providing assistance to bring about development in Leimakhong and its surrounding villages and it would continue to do so at its level best.
