Loitam Richard murder case : K'taka CM assures student leaders of handing over case to CBI

Representatives of six student bodies of the state have met the Chief Minister of Karnataka late evening today in connection with the killing of Richard Loitam, a first year student in the Archarya College of Architecture, Bangalore on April 17 last.
During the meeting, Chief Minister of Karnataka Sadananda Gowda assured the visiting representatives of AMSU, DESAM, MSF, KSA, SWAK and SUK that even though the case has been handed over to the CID, Karnataka, if the people of Manipur are not satisfied with the findings of CID, then it would be further handed over to a Central investigating agency like CBI.
Ng Milan, President of MSF; Y Pradeepkumar, President of KSA; L Santosh, Vice President of SUK; Sinam Punshiba, Vice President of SWAK and Md Abdul Hug Shah, Vice President of AMSU were present during the meeting with Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda today.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao over the phone, Moirangthem Angamba, Vice President of DESAM, who is presently in Bangalore along with other leaders the six student bodies, informed that the student representatives pressed the Karnataka Chief Minister to hand over the case to CBI and submitted a five-point memorandum in this regard.
The demands highlighted in the memorandum include handing over the case to CBI if the Karnataka government is not able to bring out the truth behind the mysterious death of Richard Loitam; to publish the detailed reports of the findings of the Karnataka state government in connection with the case; the assurance of the Karnataka state government for the security of the students from North East, etc.
Angamba further informed that the leaders of the six student bodies will be meeting the DGP of Karnataka and other top officials of the departments concerned tomorrow.
The student leaders also met volunteers of Bangalore Manipuri Students Association and discussed strategies to be carried out in order to bring justice to Richard Loitam.
It may be recalled that the Loitam Richard, a first year student in the Archarya College of Architecture, Bangalore was reportedly beaten up to death by some of his hostel mates following a tiff over changing the TV channel on the night of April 17 last.
The brutal killing evoked wide spread protest.
