Girls spring back to retain top spots in HSLC
No student from Government schools manage to fit in top 22 spot

Imphal, May 20 2013:
After a gap of three years, girls spring back to clinch all the top three positions of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC)Examination, 2013 conducted by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM), the results of which were announced today.
The overall pass percentage recorded is 72, which is 2 percent higher than the last exam.
Out of the total 33,579 students who appeared in the exam, 24,267 of them cleared the exam.
Among them again, 10,668 of them passed in first division, 12452 in second division and 1147 in third division.
But like every year, private schools fared better than the Government schools.
Out of the 25 rank holders, no government school could make their presence felt up to first 22 slots.
Just one student from Lamding High School, Wanjing managed to secure the 23rd position.
This year's HSLC exam result is all girls' affairs with Miranda Mongbijam of Nirmalabas School, Imphal, Keisham Luxmirani of Little Flower School, Imphal and Ratimanjuri Devi Hajarimayum of Nirmalabas School, Imphal respectively secured Ist, 2nd and 3rd position in one of the mostly keenly contested examination.
The mark difference among the top three position holders is just one mark each and all of them got letter marks in all the subjects.
First position holder, Miranda Mongbijam is the daughter of M Iboyaima and Noimaithem Premila of Thangmeiband Lairenhanjabam Leikai.
She got 480 marks out of the total 500 with highest mark in Mathematics.
She got 99 marks out of 100 .
Keisham Luxmirani, the 2nd position holder, is the daughter of Keisham Rojenkumar and Sarda of Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai.
She scored 479 with highest mark in English (98 out of 100) .
Ratimanjuri Hajarimayum, the 3rd position holder, is the daughter of H Rajesh Sharma and Mirabai of Khwai Brahmapur Nagamapal.
She scored 478 marks out of 500 with 99 marks in Mathematics, which is her highest mark.
The fourth position was bagged by Thangjam Rocket of St Joseph High School (476 marks); fifth position went to Miranda Oinam of Nirmalabas High School (470 marks); sixth position was bagged jointly by two students namely Newton Potshangbam of St Joseph School and Sydenny Thoudasm of Little Flower School (469 marks each); seventh position was bagged by Deema Devi Laishram of Little Flower School (468 marks); eight position went to two students namely Kshetrimayum Thoithoi Nganba Meitei of Evergreen Flower and Kavita Arambam of of Nirmalabas School with 467 marks each; the ninth position went to Jelina Ashem of Imphal Public School with 466 marks and the tenth position was bagged by Chanambam Mokuju Meitei of Khuman Maheikol, Mayang Imphal with 465 marks.
In the top 25 positions, Nirmalabas School secured in all 17 positions; St Joseph could grasp just 8 positions; Standard Robarth English 4 positions, Catholic School Canchipur two positions; Loktak Christian Model High School 2 positions while Khuman Maheikol, Azad English School, Guru Nanak, Bethel English School, Triveni Public, Heritage Convent, KM Blooming Dale, Brilliant Academy, Lamding High School, St George School and Memorial Model Academy managed to get one position each.
The student of Lamding High School, who manages to save the prestige of all Government schools in the State by coming in 23rd position, is Nongthongbam Khagemba Meetei.
He scored 851 marks with letter marks in all subjects.
While formally declaring the results of HSLC examination, 2003 at his office chamber in the old Secretariat here today, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro noted that said the pass percentage this year has shot up as compared to previous year.
The Minister was also very proud to declare that this time, Nongthonbam Khagemba Meitei, a student of Lamding High School in Thoubal district, a Government run Model School bagged the 23rd position in the exam.
There are currently 10 Model Schools set up by the Government with sole objective of bringing about academic improvement in Government schools across the State.
The Minister said that the Government would be giving incentive awards to the student topper and teachers of Lamding High School.
